Project Cyber partners with local Los Angeles non-profit DIY Girls to bring awareness of cybersecurity to GALS middle-school learners.
March 22, 2023 (Los Angeles)
Project Cyber partnered with DIY Girls, a non-profit organization with a mission to increase girls' and gender-expansive youth's interest and long-term success in technology, engineering, and making through innovative educational experiences and mentor relationships. DIY Girls serves 5th-12 grade girls in under-resourced communities predominantly in the Northeast San Fernando Valley region of Los Angeles.
Specifically, Project Cyber co-founder Cora Quon facilitated a cybersecurity workshop for a group of middle-school students from Girls Athletic Leadership School (GALS) at the Panorama High School campus after school. The group learned about foundational cybersecurity concepts and also had the chance to play the role of a cybersecurity professional racing against time to find a corporate "insider".
We appreciate the opportunity to raise awareness of cybersecurity with this engaging group and look forward to continued partnerships with DIY Girls in the future!
