Project Cyber celebrates another year of partnership with the National Center for Women in Information Technology for their annual Award for Aspirations in Computing and with Girls Who Code for their Summer Immersion Program.
June 2021
Another partnership with the National Center for Women in Information Technology (NCWIT) for their annual Award for Aspirations in Computing (AiC) and with Girls Who Code (GWC) for their Summer Immersion Program is in the books!
This is the second year we have partnered with NCWIT as a Los Angeles affiliate. Similar to last year, we did not host an in-person celebration this year due to the pandemic and instead celebrated the 103 award recipients with gift cards and Project Cyber swag!
For the GWC Summer Immersion Program, we were pleased to bring back our virtual 'Insider Detection' activity, where 180 girls were exposed to the day in the life of a cybersecurity forensics analyst. The objective was to find the corporate "insider" who leaked the latest single for the hottest global music artist ahead of its anticipated release, costing the music studio a huge sum of potential revenue, by completing various challenges and piecing together digital breadcrumbs to solve the cyber crime. The level of engagement and interest from the girls was palpable, and we are thankful for the continued partnership with GWC and Bank of America, who sponsored the Summer Immersion Program.
